Apple has released a new firmware update for AirPods Max headphones with Lightning connector. The new version of the update is 6F25, which replaces the previous 6F21 that was installed earlier.

Here's What We Know

As usual, the company does not disclose details of the firmware changes, but given that this is an update for an older model, it likely contains bug fixes and minor improvements.

The firmware updates automatically when AirPods Max are within Bluetooth range of a Wi-Fi connected iPhone, iPad, or Mac. To activate the process, the headphones need to be connected to charging. The update may take up to 30 minutes.

You can check the current firmware version in the settings on your iPhone or iPad:

  • Open Bluetooth.
  • Press the "i" button next to AirPods Max.
  • View the firmware version.

If the update has not yet been installed, you should leave the headphones charging next to the device for several hours.

Apple has officially released the first public beta versions of its upcoming software updates, including iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, macOS Sequoia 15.4, watchOS 11.4, and tvOS 15.4, available to public beta testers.

These updates follow a recent developer release that allows users to explore new features before the official launch.

To access the updates, public users can go to the Settings app on their devices after registering on Apple's public beta testing website.
