The official announcement of the action-RPG Blades of Fire from the creators of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metroid Dread has been made.
Last week MercurySteam studio announced a fantasy RPG codenamed Project Iron, and today the developers revealed the official title, release date and other important details of the game.
Here's What We Know
Ambitious action-RPG from the creators of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metroid Dread and publisher 505 Games is called Blades of Fire.
The protagonist of the game will be Aran de Lira - the head of the royal guard, betrayed by the new Queen Nerea, who has cast a spell that turns steel into stone. Only her army of monsters possesses the divine metal that other blades shatter.
The protagonist will have to fight the queen's minions and forge weapons.

Find forge scrolls, develop your blacksmithing skills, and create weapons to suit your style of combat. The type of weapon you choose and the materials used to make it will affect characteristics such as weight, length, strength, penetration and cutting edge quality.
Choose from seven weapon classes and over 30 unique forge scrolls that allow you to create an almost infinite number of combinations. Your choice of weapon will be crucial in the fight against the enemy!
The unique and complex combat system allows you to attack specific parts of the enemy's body. Slash, stab or batter your enemies depending on the situation and the enemy's equipment. Only the right weapon will allow you to penetrate the enemy's armour.
The game features over 50 enemy types including queen guards, creatures, undead and many more. Each enemy has unique fighting techniques and you need individual tactics to defeat them.
When We Can Expect It
Blades of Fire will release on 22 May on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Epic Games Store).
