Samsung is developing a new security chip that uses quantum computer protection technology.

Here's What We Know

The new chip, called S3SSE2A, was developed by Samsung System LSI (the department responsible for the development of Exynos chips) and aims to protect future Galaxy devices from threats related to quantum computers.

Flashback

Quantum computers are new types of computers that can process information much faster than modern computers. They are capable of breaking the usual security methods currently used in digital systems, such as data encryption.

Quantum computers, which are expected to be commercially available after 2030, pose a significant threat to existing security systems. These powerful machines can easily decrypt modern public cryptography, making traditional security methods vulnerable. However, Samsung is actively working to ensure that its future Galaxy devices are secure.

The S3SSE2A chip will be able to protect devices from the risks associated with quantum computers by 2028, long before these machines become massively available. Although it has not yet been revealed which smartphones will receive this chip, there is speculation that it will appear in future Galaxy flagships, which will be among the most secure devices on the market.

It is also possible that this chip will be integrated into Exynos' own chips, in particular the Exynos 2600, and will be used in future S and Z series devices.
