Casio G-Shock GW-5000HS with Tough Solar and Multi-band 6 support available in the US
Casio has finally launched the new G-Shock GW-5000HS-1 and GW-5000HS-7 in the US. These models are a modern interpretation of the classic 1983 G-Shock design and offer an updated look while retaining the familiar square shape.
Here's What We Know
The new model also features an improved module with Multi-band 6 technology for accurate radio time synchronisation and Tough Solar charging.
The GW-5000HS-7 is one of the most striking of the new models. It features a pure white colour and a plain display. It is the first watch in the GW5000 series that does not have a black colour. The GW-5000HS-1 retains its classic black colour and features a dark background display for a stylish look.
Both models are manufactured at Casio's factory in Japan, the birthplace of the G-Shock, and feature a metal case with a DLC (diamond-like coating) for added durability. The watch also features a strap made from an environmentally friendly material based on bioresources, underlining the brand's commitment.
Technical features include solar charging, precise time synchronisation via Multi-band 6, Super Illuminator for better visibility in the dark, and water resistance to 200 metres. Also available are world time functions for 31 time zones, a countdown timer, five alarms per day and an automatic calendar.
The G-Shock GW-5000HS is available on Casio's website for $300. The models also recently appeared in the UK and Europe.
