The Swedish defence authority FMV has awarded a SEK 1.4 billion (approx. EUR 125.6 million at current exchange rates) contract to Scania and Volvo to supply 775 trucks to the Swedish Armed Forces. Additionally, there is an option for a further 575 vehicles. Deliveries are scheduled for 2025-2026.

Here's What We Know

The contract is an expansion of previous deliveries, but also includes new truck models. For example, for the first time a 6x6 flatbed truck with tilt and hydroboard has been ordered.

Suppliers were competitively selected under an existing framework contract. The trucks are designed to transport cargo, platforms and military equipment in various units of the Swedish Armed Forces.

Which vehicles have been ordered

Scania will deliver 175 6×6 flatbed trucks and 300 4×4 vehicles. Volvo will deliver 300 6×6 flatbed trucks.

Jonas Silfver Wikstrand, head of FMV's Heavy Wheeled Vehicles Division, said the vehicles from previous deliveries have been very well received by users. According to him, the additional 775 modern trucks will greatly enhance the capabilities of the country's armed forces.
