The Japanese publisher Square Enix continues to undergo active structural changes.

The company has already refused to release console exclusives, will pay more attention to quality control of projects and, as it turns out, is making changes to the management team.

Here's What We Know

A new list of Square Enix board members has been published online, and the name of Naoki Yoshida - producer, experienced manager and game director of several Final Fantasy projects - is missing from it.

Yoshida found himself on the company's board in 2018 after an extremely difficult and lengthy rescue of MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, which came out in a completely failed state, but the Japanese game designer took all the blame for the failed release and formed a new team. It managed to make FFXIV one of the most popular games of its genre, which is still the main source of Square Enix's income.

However, Naoki Yoshida has repeatedly stated that he would like to step down and concentrate solely on game development. Square Enix had previously not allowed this to happen, but the situation has likely changed and the company has supported Yoshida's aspirations.
