A total of eight such ships are planned to be built for the Turkish Navy. According to Haluk Gergun, the second ship will be launched in the coming weeks. The new vessels will be able to carry up to three Altay main battle tanks or 260 marines.

The YLCT ships will have a displacement of 1,166 tonnes, a length of 79.9 metres, a beam of 11.7 metres and a draft of less than one metre at the bow. They are equipped with two main engines with a capacity of 3400 kW, allowing them to reach speeds of up to 20 knots.

The amphibious ships will have a deck area of 410 square metres for equipment. For their own defence, they will be armed with two 12.7 mm machine guns and two 25 mm remote-controlled artillery systems.

In addition to combat missions, the vessels will be ready to participate in disaster relief operations, humanitarian missions and evacuations. The first ship is expected to join the fleet in November this year, with the entire series expected to be completed by May 2027.
