During its recent earnings report, Sega announced that it plans to release fewer new games in 2025. However, the company expects its revenues to remain stable due to repeat sales of existing games and the success of its free-to-play games in the next fiscal year.

Here's What We Know

Sega has clarified that the number of major releases, the so-called "full games" (excluding free-to-play games), will be lower compared to the current fiscal year. Nevertheless, the company expects recurring revenue from repeat sales of these large games, as well as a significant contribution from its free-to-play offerings.

The company also discussed its investment plans for subsidiaries such as Atlus, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios and Sonic Team. Sega intends to strengthen these studios by hiring more talented employees and conducting mergers and acquisitions, in particular to expand Japanese intellectual property globally and strengthen its teams working on popular franchises such as Sonic and Like a Dragon.
