Pinterest updates its terms of use: the company can use your photos to train generative AI

Pinterest has changed its terms of use and privacy policy. The platform can now use user data to train generative artificial intelligence models.
Here's What We Know
The updated privacy policy allows Pinterest to use user information to improve technologies such as machine learning models and features that use generative artificial intelligence.
In addition, the company collects account information, precise location, contacts, device information, log data, and cookies. Although the use of data to train machine learning models was part of the policy before, a separate section on generative artificial intelligence has only now been added.
The new terms apply to all content, regardless of when it was published, meaning that all pins that have been or will be published can be used to train artificial intelligence models. These changes will take effect on 30 April 2025.
In addition, Pinterest is updating its business terms of use, expanding the range of actions it can take with user content. The company can now monetise and download your content without the right to receive compensation.
