Google releases Wear OS 5.1 based on Android 15 for Pixel Watch

Google has released a new version of the Wear OS 5.1 operating system for smartwatches based on Android 15. This version is the successor to Wear OS 5 on Android 14.
Here's What We Know
The release took place without a major advertising campaign, and the update is currently available for Pixel Watch 1, 2, and 3, which were the first gadgets to receive the update. It is not yet known when and which Samsung Galaxy Watch models will receive Wear OS 5.1.
Features of Wear OS 5.1
Google released the preview version of Wear OS 5.1 in November 2024. Among the key innovations is Credential Manager, which simplifies access to applications by storing PINs, passwords, and other authorisation data. Also, smartwatches can now play media through the built-in speakers, which significantly improves their functionality.
Wear OS 5.1 also includes several new features: support for menstrual health monitoring, improved media control, and an algorithm for better step counting when walking or running. However, it's not yet clear whether these innovations are available for all devices or only for the Pixel Watch.
When will Wear OS 5.1 be available on Samsung Galaxy Watch?
Samsung is expected to release Wear OS 5.1 for its Galaxy Watch models along with a new version of One UI Watch (likely One UI 6.5). Given the time required to integrate this update with One UI, we should not expect a quick release of Wear OS 5.1 for Samsung smartwatches.
