Game director Hugo Martin and producer Marty Stratton have revealed new details about DOOM: The Dark Ages, including information about a unique new weapon.

Here's What We Know

One of the most interesting new features in DOOM: The Dark Ages will be a weapon called Skullcrusher, which was originally called Bonecrusher. It is a powerful minigun that shoots pre-made skulls.

The Skullcrusher will have a close attack radius to enemies, but it will compensate for this with its speed of fire and acceleration of movement while firing.

Martin also emphasised that the team has significantly improved the blood and animation system to create gory moments in the style of cult films. "We have been developing our dismemberment system since 2016, and now it is one of the best in the industry," he said.

Players can also expect new weapons, such as the Railspike, a crossbow that nails enemies to walls, as well as a new shield to block attacks. In addition, the game will offer the opportunity to ride dragons and control huge battle mechs.

We would like to remind you that the authors have already told whether it is possible to complete Doom: The Dark Ages without firearms. Moreover, the game will not end with the scene of the main character in a coffin: the authors want to open the door to future stories.

Doom: The Dark Ages comes out on 15 May 2025 on PC, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5.
