Meizu plans to launch new smartphones in 30 countries
Meizu, once known only for smartphones, has returned to the international arena after a change of ownership. After the company focused on the production of electric cars, the smartphone division was acquired by the Dreamsmart Group.
Here's What We Know
In an interview with the CEO of Dreamsmart Group and the head of international operations, our colleagues from GSMArena learned that Meizu entered 30 markets in the first year after its return. Dreamsmart's significant investment in smartphone development, manufacturing and distribution has helped the brand to recover quickly.
The company's plans include further expansion into Southeast Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, and Latin America. Mr. Gu Binbin stressed the importance of cooperation with the car giant Geely, as smartphones and cars are already sold together in some regions. Initially, Meizu smartphones will be available online, but the company is actively working on concluding agreements with physical retailers.
Meizu offers a variety of smartphones in China, where prices range from $100 to $700. Overseas, however, the company is focused on selling mid-range smartphones, which provide optimal value for money. In the future, Meizu plans to expand its range in international markets by offering more diverse models.
At MWC 2025, Meizu demonstrated the Meizu 22 model, which is due to hit the market in April, indicating the brand's ambition to regain its position in the competitive smartphone segment.
