Blades of Fire developers assure that the game will be "heavily story-driven" and that players' curiosity will reveal more of the story

MercurySteam is gradually revealing new details about its upcoming role-playing game Blades of Fire. In a recent interview with Gamereactor, the studio's co-founder and game director Enric Alvarez spoke about the game's strong storyline, emphasising that players will have the freedom to decide how deeply they will dive into its story.
Here's What We Know
Alvarez explained that compelling characters are essential to creating a good story, and Blades of Fire will be heavily story-driven. While traditional cutscenes will be used to convey key moments, the game will also feature what he called "organic storytelling" that will allow players to unlock the story depending on their level of engagement. According to him, the player's curiosity will play a significant role in shaping the narrative.
An example of this approach is the character Adso, who serves as a source of mysterious information about the player's current quest. Players can interact with Adso at any time to get general information about their mission or ask specific questions about elements such as counterfeiters, hammers, or new characters. Alvarez noted that this system encourages active participation, creating a cohesive and engaging storytelling experience.
Where To Play
Blades of Fire will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
When We Can Expect It
The game is scheduled for release on 22 May.
