Toyota's model range has been enriched with an electric version of the C-HR crossover, which has received a "+" to its name. So far it is announced only in the European specification, but judging by the headlights with side reflectors, the chances of an American version are also great.

Here's What We Know

The Toyota C-HR+ is a production version of the 2022 Toyota Compact SUV concept. The new EV is similar to a fellow with an internal combustion engine, but it turned out to be larger and built on the Toyota e-TNGA battery platform, while the "regular" C-HR is based on the TNGA (GA-C) platform. In other words, technically the new C-HR+ is even closer to the Toyota bZ4X than the C-HR. It measures 4,520 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. For comparison, the length of the second-generation Toyota C-HR is 4360 mm and the wheelbase is 2640 mm.

Future buyers were promised a choice of front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions of the Toyota C-HR+. At the moment, the following specifications have been announced:

  • battery packs: 57.7 kWh (front-wheel drive only) and 77 kWh (front / all-wheel drive);
  • maximum range on the WLTP cycle: up to 600 kilometres;
  • power levels: 167 hp (123 kW) / 224 hp (165 kW) / 343 hp (252 kW);
  • 0-100 km/h acceleration (AWD version with 77 kWh battery): 5.2 seconds.

The standard equipment includes an on-board charger with 11 kW. The High Grade version includes a 22 kW unit. DC fast charging can reach up to 150 kW. For better energy efficiency, the new C-HR+ is equipped with a heat pump and also features a battery pre-conditioning function.

Equipment

Toyota Safety Sense and driver assistance systems including blind spot monitoring, adaptive high beam headlights and parking brake are standard. The High trim includes a parking assist system and panoramic view cameras.

A 14-inch multimedia display is standard on all Toyota C-HR+. The navigation system is trained to calculate routes taking into account charging stations depending on the state of charge of the car's battery. The MyToyota app allows owners to monitor charging status and time, range, and usage data.

When on sale.

Sales of the Toyota C-HR+ will begin as early as 2025 in select markets in Europe. Pricing has not yet been announced, unfortunately.
