Roman Shimonov, founder of roshel, said that the company had supplied Ukraine with the largest number of armoured vehicles among all countries and manufacturers.

Here's What We Know

The company produces Senator exclusively at its facility in Ontario, Canada, where the assembly line employs about 500 workers. This allows the company to produce up to 120 cars a month, most of which are exported.

Shimonov noted that the Canadian government is not interested in purchasing Senator for Ukraine, despite positive feedback from the military. According to him, 90% of the vehicles were financed by foreign governments, including the Ukrainian one, while Canada financed only 10%.

One Senator costs $600,000 and takes up to two weeks to produce. The armoured vehicle is based on a heavy Ford truck and is equipped with ballistic protection that can withstand 5.56 mm and 7.62 mm bullets. It can also be fitted with mine protection that can withstand an explosion of up to 6 kg of explosives or anti-tank mines.

The vehicle is powered by a 400-horsepower engine for high cross-country ability. The Senator can accommodate up to 10 soldiers in full gear and protects against explosive devices and enemy ambushes. It is also used as a command and control vehicle for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In September 2024, roshel handed over the 1400th Senator to Ukraine, and in December 2023 - the 1000th. In short, the production rate has increased: while nine months passed between the delivery of the 1000th and 1400th Senator, only five months passed between the 1400th and 1700th.
