The tactical 3v3 shooter Spectre Divide, the debut project of Mountaintop Studios, will be completely shut down for 30 days, and the studio will cease to exist by the end of this week.

Here's What We Know

Despite the fact that the game entered the closed beta test on 13 August last year, it failed to retain a sufficient audience and provide a stable income. The studio's CEO Nate Mitchell explained that due to the lack of active players and financial resources, it was no longer possible to support the project. According to him, the team tried to stretch the budget as much as possible, but in the end, there was not enough money to cover even basic expenses.

Mitchell noted that the studio considered options for attracting a new publisher, finding investors, or even selling, but none of these scenarios worked. As a result, all in-game purchases have been disabled, and players who have made transactions since the launch of the first season will receive compensation.

At launch, Spectre Divide had 400 thousand registered players and peaked at over 30 thousand online users in September. The main feature of the game was the clone mechanic, which allowed you to switch between characters right during the battle. However, within a few months, the game lost popularity: the online audience did not exceed 4 thousand players and even an update in February failed to bring back the audience.
