Sweden to hand over 18 Archer self-propelled artillery systems and 5 ARTHUR counter-battery radars to Ukraine
Swedish Defence Minister Paul Johnson has announced the signing of a contract to supply Ukraine with 18 Archer self-propelled artillery systems and 5 ARTHUR counter-battery radars. The deal, worth $300 million, is part of the 18th package of military assistance to Ukraine.
Here's What We Know
Earlier, Sweden has already delivered 8 Archer artillery systems, which, according to the minister, have proven themselves at the front. Johnson stressed that the high speed, accuracy and mobility of these howitzers allows them to effectively strike at the positions of the Russian occupiers.
In addition, Sweden will join the Artillery Coalition, an international initiative aimed at coordinating the supply of artillery systems, ammunition and training for the Ukrainian military. Its long-term goal is to improve Ukraine's artillery capabilities and ensure compatibility with NATO standards.

The 155 mm Archer self-propelled howitzer, developed by BAE Systems Bofors, is equipped with the FH 77B automated gun with a barrel length of 55 calibres. The gun can fire 6 rounds in 30 seconds in different trajectories, increasing the efficiency of fire. The system uses NATO-standard ammunition, including high-precision BONUS and M982 Excalibur.
The Archer is based on a Volvo A30D or MAN HX2 chassis with a 6×6 wheel configuration and has an armoured cab that provides protection against bullets and debris.
