Horizon's Eloi voice is concerned about the use of AI in video games after a video leaked showing a fully generated character

Ashley Burch, the actress who voices the character Eloy in the Horizon series of games, has expressed concerns about the future of video game acting after a video of an AI-generated version of her character was leaked. This leak sparked discussions in the context of the current SAG-AFTRA strike against the use of AI in the creative industries.
Here's What We Know
In a video posted on her TikTok account, Burch noted that the game developer, Guerrilla Games, assured her that the demo video did not reflect active development and did not use her voice or visuals. However, the actress expressed concern about the impact of such technologies on the future of acting in video games. She emphasised that the current SAG-AFTRA strike is partly aimed at protecting actors from the uncontrolled use of AI.
The SAG-AFTRA strike started due to concerns about the use of AI to replace actors in various media. In February, Bungie confirmed that some dialogue in the new Destiny 2: Heresy content was missing due to the strike, which underscores the seriousness of the situation.
Burch expressed concern that such technologies could lead to the use of actors' voices and images without their consent, which would jeopardise the art of acting in video games.
