Russian propaganda media report on a new modification of the kamikaze drone, allegedly made by experts from the Archangels project. According to the head of the project, Mikhail Filippov, the drone has a hybrid design with a vertical take-off, after which it switches to "wing mode" and can fly at speeds up to 280 km/h.

Here's What We Know

Filippov claims that the minimum flight range is 50 km, but even the Russian Archangels in their comments clarify that this distance is possible only in economy mode at a speed of 120-140 km/h. At top speed, the real range will be much less.

The developers claim that the high speed makes it difficult to shoot down the drone with small arms, and allegedly makes it "physically impossible" to hit. At the same time, the main task of such a drone may be to fight Ukrainian long-range drones, as the Russian occupier relies on speed.

The new Russian drone resembles Ukrainian anti-aircraft drones, which were developed last autumn to combat Russian Shaheds. The Russians also used a "rocket-like" design, although, according to Defense Express, their device looks more like an amateur development.

It is worth noting that Ukrainian developers have already demonstrated much better results. For example, experts from the Wild Hornets community have previously managed to accelerate an FPV drone to 325 km/h.
