Here's What We Know

BMW Digital Key with Huawei this year

By the end of 2025, BMW will introduce Digital Key for owners of Huawei smartphones. This will allow you to open, close and start the car without a traditional key, using only a smartphone.

Sean Green, President of BMW Group Region China, said:

"In China, almost a quarter of MyBMW App users use Huawei devices. Deep integration with the HarmonyOS ecosystem will enhance digital services and user experience."

BMW is developing the Neue Klasse range of electric vehicles. The first in this line will be the electric iX3, and in 2026 it will be joined by a sedan, which will probably be called the i3.

In addition to HiCar, BMW is collaborating with Chinese companies in the field of artificial intelligence, including the development of language models and voice assistants. This will help make cars even smarter and more convenient for users in China.

BMW plans to introduce the iX5 in 2026. The SUV will be available in both a fully electric version (BEV) and a hydrogen fuel cell power plant developed in conjunction with Toyota. According to Autocar, the iX5 2026 will be built on the updated Neue Klasse platform, which supports electric, hydrogen powertrains as well as vehicles with internal combustion engines.
