Following the recent release of Rise of the Ronin on Steam, users have been reporting serious issues, including poor performance. However, reports of missing saves have now begun to surface.

Here's What We Know

Players have reported that after several hours of play, their saves disappear without a trace, forcing them to start the game from scratch. Some users have lost over 8 hours of progress.

Koei Tecmo has acknowledged the issue and said that they are investigating the disappearance of saves on the Steam version. They recommend that players check for conflicts with file-sharing services such as Dropbox, restore backups of their saves, and make sure Steam Cloud is enabled.

In addition to the loss of saves, players are experiencing poor game performance. Although the developers promised support for 8K resolution and 120 FPS, in practice the game has problems with frame stability even on powerful systems. Koei Tecmo recommends temporarily limiting the frame rate to 60 FPS to improve performance.
