Undertale sets new record for simultaneous players on Steam almost a decade after release

The legendary RPG Undertale has reached a new peak of simultaneous players on Steam, almost ten years after its release. According to SteamDB, on 16 March 2025, the game attracted 11 thousand players simultaneously, which exceeded the previous record of 2015.
Here's What We Know
This surge in interest is due to the spring sale on Steam, during which Undertale is available for only $1 instead of the usual $10.
Undertale debuted in September 2015 on PC, quickly gaining critical acclaim and a wide audience. In 2018, the game became available on consoles, including the Nintendo Switch.
Undertale is a pixel-based role-playing game. The player controls a child who has fallen into an underworld inhabited by monsters. The game features a combat system that allows you to either fight enemies or show them mercy. Each monster has its own personality and method of interaction, which makes encounters different from the previous ones. The player's decisions affect the plot and the end of the game. Undertale is noted for its humour, plot, music, and characters.
Currently, Fox is working on the next chapters of the new Deltarune game - the third and fourth, which are scheduled for release this year.
Therefore, it shows once again that a big discount can give a game a second wind and bring a considerable audience.
