Qualcomm has unveiled three new Snapdragon G series chips aimed at portable gaming consoles

At the annual Game Developers Conference (GDC) professional convention, Qualcomm unveiled a line-up of three new Snapdragon G series chips designed for portable game consoles.

Here's What We Know

The manufacturer offered three variants of the Snapdragon G processor, which will be suitable for devices of different power and price category.

All have 8 cores each, but the layout, GPU and communication technologies are different:

  • Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 is the flagship processor of the new series, which will offer high performance and even support Lumen global illumination technology, which is often used in games created on Unreal Engine 5. This chip will be able to run high-end games on Android devices. It will boost performance by 30 per cent and graphics capabilities will increase by 28 per cent. G3 Gen 3 supports Wi-Fi 7.
  • Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 is designed to run games natively and use cloud gaming services. This chip will increase performance by 2.3x over the last generation and delivers up to 144 FPS and 3.8x increase in graphics capabilities. The chip also supports Wi-Fi 7.
  • The Snapdragon G1 Gen 2 is designed primarily for cloud gaming. This chip will be able to run games in resolutions up to 1080p at 120 FPS. This processor is limited to Wi-Fi 5.
