Valve continues to develop the niche of portable game consoles and does not hide that it wants to make SteamOS to be the main operating system of such gadgets.
The company has released a new test version of its software for portable devices that are not Steam Deck.
Here's What We Know
Steam Deck Preview members can already try out the SteamOS 3.7.0 update, which includes the following changes:
- Linux kernel update to version 6.1.1.1 and upgrade to Plasma 6.2.5;
- an update to the Mesa graphics driver base;
- smoother transition between portable and desktop modes;
- improved surround sound;
- enhanced accessory compatibility;
- a number of bug fixes.
As a reminder, the only third-party handheld console with SteamOS at the moment is Lenovo's Legion Go S, but several other companies are already working on gadgets that use Valve's operating system.
The update is expected to be released for all users in April.
