GM and NVIDIA team up to create self-driving cars and robotic factories

General Motors and NVIDIA announced that they are jointly developing AI systems for new vehicles, manufacturing and robotics. The collaboration includes optimising factory processes, creating smart cars and implementing accelerated computing.
Here's What We Know
GM will use NVIDIA Omniverse and NVIDIA Cosmos AI platforms to digitally simulate factories and train algorithms. This will enable virtual testing of production processes and reduce downtime. The companies will also continue to work together to develop robotic platforms for material handling and precision welding robots.

The automaker's press release also noted that GM plans to launch personal autonomous vehicles (PAVs) that can take a passenger anywhere without a human driver. As driver assistance systems evolve, a sophisticated electrical architecture with high-performance computing becomes critical.
For this reason, GM will build next-generation vehicles on the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX automated driving platform, based on NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and running on the NVIDIA DriveOS operating system.
