Honda P7: electric crossover with a range of 650 kilometres makes its debut in China
GAC Honda has unveiled a new model for the Chinese market, the Honda P7. It is a mid-size SUV designed from the ground up as an all-electric vehicle. It gets an updated Honda logo without the outer ring and is the twin of the Honda S7 model, which is produced by Dongfeng Honda.
Here's What We Know
The dimensions of the Honda P7 are 4750×1930×1625 mm and the wheelbase is 2930 mm. In comparison, the petrol-powered Porsche Macan measures 4726×1922×1621 mm and has a wheelbase of 2807 mm.
The design of the Honda P7 utilises narrow LED headlamps and also features cameras instead of the traditional side mirrors. This solution adds futuristic feel to the model and improves aerodynamics.
The interior is dominated by a 12.8-inch display of the multimedia system, while in front of the driver is a digital instrument cluster and a three-spoke steering wheel in a two-tone design. Side cameras transmit images to the displays at the top of the door cards. Apart from this, the interior mirror has an inbuilt video recorder.
The Honda P7 is also the brand's third car in China with the Honda Sensing 360+ advanced safety system suite, which supports Highway Navigation Assist.
Modifications and specifications
The Honda P7 will be available in two versions:
- 2WD: one 200 kW (268 hp) rear electric motor, 650 kilometres (CLTC) driving range
- AWD: two electric motors (one on each axle) with a total output of 350 kW (469 hp), range of 620 kilometres (CLTC)
Both versions have a CATL battery with a capacity of 89.9 kWh.

Expected price
The official price tag for the Honda P7 hasn't been revealed yet, but considering that the related Honda S7 costs from 259,900 yuan ($35,700), the newcomer is likely to be in the same price bracket. More details will be revealed closer to the official launch, which is scheduled near the end of March.
