The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine published a video of strikes on Russian military equipment in the temporarily occupied Crimea. As a result of the DIU's strike drones, a number of expensive Russian radar stations, air defence systems, ships and a helicopter were damaged in a few days. The estimated cost of the damaged equipment mentioned in the video of the strike could be up to $500 million.

In total, according to the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, the following was hit:

  • Radar stations
    • 48Ya6-K1 Podlet (2 pcs)
    • 1L125 "Niobium-SV" (2 pcs)
    • 39N6 "Kasta 2E2" (3 pcs.)
    • 9C19 "Ginger"
    • "Nebo-SV"
    • S-300VM
    • "Nebo-M"
    • 59N6-E "Protyvnik-GE"
    • "Cape" radar
  • S-300SV launcher
  • Command posts
    • "ST-68" RADAR
    • Radar 39N6 "Kasta 2E2"
  • Anti-aircraft missile and gun systems "Pantsir-S1" (3 pcs.)
  • Transport and towing vessel of the C4236 project
  • Universal tugboat "Fyodor Uryupin"
  • Mi-8 helicopter

The estimated cost of the damaged equipment is significant, potentially reaching hundreds of millions of US dollars. For example, the cost of the S-300VM system alone (radar and launcher) is estimated to be between $150 million and $300 million. The Nebo-M radar costs more than $100 million. The cost of the 39N6 Kasta 2E2 radar ranges from $30 to $60 million. And according to the DIU report, three of them were damaged.

The loss of advanced radar systems such as Nebo-M and Kasta 2E2 significantly impairs Russia's air surveillance and defence capabilities, especially against stealth aircraft and low-flying targets. The destruction of the rare 9S19 Ginger radar affects Russia's missile defence capabilities. The loss of several units of systems such as Podlyot and Niobium-SV further weakens the overall radar network. Damage to the S-300VM system reduces Russia's long-range air and missile defence capabilities. Targeting the coastal radar of the Mys radar affects situational awareness in the Black Sea.

All estimates based on publicly available information. Actual costs may vary. However, the analysis indicates a significant financial and strategic setback for the Russian army as a result of the damage to this equipment. The continued destruction of high-cost radar and anti-aircraft missile systems indicates that the Ukrainian Defence Forces' efforts to weaken Russia's military capabilities are ongoing.
