Yamaha has launched a hybrid motorbike for $1,680

Yamaha has introduced the FZ-S Fi Hybrid, India's first motorbike in the under 150cc class with hybrid technology. It is designed to improve dynamic performance and fuel efficiency.
Here's What We Know
Externally, the FZ-S Fi Hybrid is almost the same as the regular version, but there are a few nuances. For example, updated graphics on the fairings and a new location of the front turn signals - now they are located on the side panels of the tank. The bike is available in two colours, Racing Blue and Cyan Metallic Grey.

Engine
Under the tank is a 149cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that is now OBD-2B compliant. It produces 12.4bhp and 13.3Nm - just like the non-hybrid version. The difference: the FZ-S Fi Hybrid now has a starter generator, which:
- Assists the engine when starting - adds a little torque for sharper acceleration.
- Activates the start-stop system - the engine shuts down at stops and starts instantly when the clutch lever is released.
- It helps to reduce fuel consumption.
On the downside, the hybrid version is a bit heavier: its curb weight is 138kg, which is 1kg more than the regular FZ-S Fi.
New TFT-display and electronics
Yamaha has updated the dashboard - it is now a 4.2-inch colour TFT display, which:
Displays all basic information and connects to your smartphone via the Y-Connect app. You can display Google Maps navigation tips, as well as call and message notifications.
Structurally, the motorbike is unchanged
- Telescopic fork at the front and adjustable rear mono shock absorber.
- Disc brakes: 282mm front, 220mm rear + single channel ABS.
- Wheels are 17-inch with 100mm (front) and 140mm (rear) tyres.
- Traction Control and LED lighting are available.
Price
The Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid is priced at Rs 144,800 (≈ $1,680), which is Rs 14,100 (≈ $163) more expensive than the standard model.
