Huawei unveiled an unusual foldable smartphone Pura X with 16:10 aspect ratio, powerful processor and extensive AI capabilities

Huawei presented an unusual foldable smartphone Pura X with a unique design and impressive specifications.

Here's What We Know

The main feature of the Pura X will be the aspect ratio - 16:10, which is almost never used in smartphones. According to Huawei, this format is "the most convenient for users", as more information is placed on the screen (usually smartphones have a 16:9 ratio).

The main characteristics of Huawei Pura X:

Display: the internal screen is 6.3″ diagonal with a resolution of 2120×1320p and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The outer square display is 3.5″ with a resolution of 980×980p. Both screens support HDR and have a peak brightness of 2500 nits.

Cameras: the main camera includes a 50MP module with f/1.6 aperture, a telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom, a 40MP wide-angle camera and a colour sensor. The front camera is 10MP.

Performance: the smartphone uses HarmonyOS 5 operating system with improved performance and integration with cloud services. Huawei Pura X is equipped with Kirin 9000s processor, which is developed by Huawei and is characterised by high performance and energy efficiency.

Battery: the battery capacity is 4,720 mAh and supports 66W wired fast charging and 40W wireless charging.

The device is IPX8 water-resistant, supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.2., and a satellite-enabled model is available.

The Huawei Pura X is available in several colours including grey, white and black, as well as special tri-colour versions.

The Pura X makes extensive use of artificial intelligence capabilities based on Huawei's own Pangu.

The AI will offer the following options:

  • AI algorithms will help optimise photos by automatically selecting the best settings for lighting, composition and colour reproduction. Image enhancement, detail enhancement and removal of unwanted objects are also available;
  • help recognise objects in photos, read text from images and translate them;
  • analysis of user habits allows the system to optimise device performance, including managing power consumption and speeding up the launch of frequently used applications;
  • the smartphone understands complex voice commands, providing answers, reminders and assistance;
  • through integration with cloud platforms, AI enables fast data synchronisation and access to virtual assistants.
  • Through HarmonyOS AI, you can control other smart devices in the Huawei ecosystem.

The Huawei Pura X is already available to order in China, but the timeline for the smartphone's global release is yet to be announced. The price starts from $1050 in terms of yuan.
