This week, Meta begins deploying its artificial intelligence in 41 European countries, including European Union states, as well as 21 overseas territories on the continent.

Here's What We Know

The launch was previously delayed due to difficulties in complying with European regulatory requirements. In particular, the Irish Data Protection Commission required Meta to suspend training language models on content posted by adult Facebook and Instagram users. As a result, the company has temporarily stopped releasing its Llama multimodal models in the region.

Meta's artificial intelligence will be integrated into messaging apps such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger. Users will be able to interact with the AI by entering queries through @MetaAI.

Initially, the system's capabilities will be limited to text queries, but the company plans to expand the functionality in an effort to reach a level comparable to the US. Meta AI will be available in the region's six languages and will be able to search for information online and suggest relevant content, including posts and videos.
