Apple is accused of false advertising and unfair competition for delaying Siri features that were promised at the launch of iOS 18 and iPhone 16 models.

Here's What We Know

The lawsuit was filed in a court in San Jose, California, and accuses the company of misleading consumers by advertising Siri features that were not available at the time of release. This is reported by Axios.

The plaintiffs argue that Apple's adverts created a "clear and reasonable expectation" that these transformative features would be available at the launch of the iPhone 16. The adverts caused a stir and persuaded millions of users to upgrade their devices, despite the fact that the promised features were delayed.

After Apple confirmed the delay, the company took down the adverts, but this happened only a few months after they were online, causing confusion.

The plaintiffs allege that Apple advertised features that were not actually available and continued to promote them even when it became known that they would not be ready for the planned launch.

The lawsuit also criticises Apple for exaggerating the capabilities of artificial intelligence, leading consumers to believe that they were buying a device with advanced Apple Intelligence capabilities that were not actually available.

What the dissatisfied users demand

The plaintiffs are seeking class action status and damages for customers who purchased Apple devices that support Apple Intelligence.
