Authoritative Chinese analyst and insider Ming-Chi Kuo continues to reveal interesting details of the first foldable iPhone model. Previously, he reported the Titanium body, dual camera and no Face ID: an insider shared interesting information about the first foldable iPhone model from Apple and that its cost will be more than $2000. And this time he shared information about how the American company is going to solve one of the main problems of foldable smartphones.

Here's What We Know

On his page in X, Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that in order to increase the strength and imperceptible bending of the foldable iPhone, Apple is using a hinge made of liquid metal, and this will be the first time that the company uses such a material in such critical and large components.

As a reminder, liquid metal is produced by injection moulding, it has high tensile strength and recovery ratio, as well as enhanced wear resistance characteristics, making it ideal for producing foldable smartphone hinges.

Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that the liquid metal for the iPhone is supplied by China's Dongguan EonTec.

Flashback

According to Ming-Chi Kuo's previous insights, the foldable gadget's inner screen diagonal will be 7.8″ without folds, while the outer screen will be 5.5″. When folded, the device will be 9 to 9.5mm thick, while when unfolded it will be 4.5mm to 4.8mm thick.

The foldable iPhone will get a titanium alloy body, dual rear camera and single front camera.

Apple plans to launch mass production of the foldable iPhone in the fourth quarter of 2026.
