A few days ago, Google released a test firmware Android 16 Beta 3, in which several interesting features appeared, among them, as it turned out, the developers added a feature that users of Pixel smartphones have long asked for.

Here's What We Know

The author of the Android Authority portal Mishaal Rahman found out that Android 16 Beta 3 added a feature to unlock the Pixel with a fingerprint when the screen is switched off.

The feature first appeared in Android 16 DP2, but was only available on the most current Pixel 9 series. Now, at least the Pixel 6a and Pixel 7 Pro support this feature.

To activate the new option, you need to do the following steps: "Settings" > "Security and Privacy" > "Device Unlock" > "Face and Fingerprint Unlock" > "Fingerprint Unlock".

It's worth noting that this feature has been available on other brands' smartphones for a while now, but Google has been slow to add it to its Pixel.
