UK opens largest hub for fast charging of electric cars

The UK's largest charging hub for electric cars has opened in Winchester. The complex is managed by InstaVolt. It has 44 charging stations with a capacity of up to 160 kW each, as well as a developed associated infrastructure.
Here's What We Know
The electric charging complex has areas for large cars, cars with trailers and special spaces for vans. Moreover, it is the first "Superhub InstaVolt" with its own solar farm with 870 solar panels combined with a battery storage capacity of 4 MWh. This enables the complex to maintain optimal power regardless of the time of day.
Not just charging
To ensure drivers don't get bored while their electric cars are receiving power, the hub offers:
- Starbucks - the first coffee shop at the InstaVolt charging station
- 24-hour toilets for those who charge at night or use the cheaper night tariff
- Dog walking area with special waste bins
- Compressor for tyre inflation
Surveillance cameras and energy-efficient LED lighting are installed on the territory of the hub.
InstaVolt CEO Delvin Lane described the hub as a "flagship facility" that is "changing drivers' expectations of the charging process".
