Mark Gurman: Apple Watch Ultra 3 will get satellite support and a 5G modem from MediaTek

Authoritative insider and Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman shared interesting information about Apple Watch Ultra 3, which will receive two important options at once.
Here's What We Know
Gurman reported that Apple will equip the new Ultra line of its smartwatches with support for satellite communications and 5G modem.
In Apple devices, satellite connectivity was introduced in the iPhone 14, after which it was added to the following iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models, but the option was never available in the Apple Watch. Having satellite connectivity will not only allow you to use the emergency rescue feature, but also to send messages outside of mobile and internet coverage.
Support for satellite communication in Apple Watch Ultra 3 will make the gadget more competitive against similar products of other brands and becomes a strong argument for choosing this line.
Gurman also adds that in the production of future Apple Watch models the company will use MediaTek chips instead of Intel modems. Their main advantage will be support for 5G RedCap, an energy-efficient version of 5G adapted for wearable devices.
The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is expected to be unveiled in September 2025.
