Gail lives in the Jackson settlement and is the wife of Eugene, a character who is only mentioned in the background in the game. The introduction of this character expands the storyline of the series, adding new aspects to Joel's story and his inner experiences. Catherine O'Hara describes her character as a woman with a "sharp temper", which adds elements of black humour to her interaction with Joel.
It is worth noting that the second season of The Last of Us will consist of seven episodes, with the first one scheduled to premiere on 13 April 2025. The new actors will also include Caitlin Deaver as Abby and Isabela Merced, who will play Dina.
