The popular service for communication among gamers Discord updates the interface of the desktop application. The developers have added a pitch-black Onyx theme, refreshed the interface by increasing the indents between blocks to avoid the effect of information noise and interface overload, and added the ability to change the channel list.

The application interface was previously designed in dark colours, but it was not completely black. OLED screens completely switch off pixels to display black, which saves battery power and increases image contrast, so this interface design has become very popular among mobile devices. Now, Discord has decided to unify the design of its mobile and desktop applications. The new Onyx theme is added in addition to the three standard ones.

The outgoing call interface has also changed, making it easier to control camera and microphone settings.

The changes also affected the functionality of the application. Now the Discord window is displayed above the game image instead of being embedded in it. Thanks to this, Discord is displayed at a lower frame rate and consumes much less computer resources. The updated interface is now made in the form of separate widgets that can be moved and changed, just like in the Xbox Game Bar in Windows itself. It is noted that this method of output will be less likely to conflict with anti-cheat programs.
