Aston Martin Vanquish Volante: the fastest and most powerful front-engined roadster ever built

Aston Martin has unveiled the new Vanquish Volante. It is Aston Martin's fastest and most powerful open-top production car ever and, along with its coupé counterpart, the fastest and most powerful front-engined production car currently available on the market.
Here's What We Know
The new Vanquish Volante is the jewel in the 60-year range. The first Aston Martin car to bear the name was the little-known 1965 Short Chassis Volante, which incorporated design elements from both the DB5 convertible and DB6 Volante. Only 37 examples were built in one year, making it one of the rarest of the rare examples.
The new 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 engine develops up to 835 hp, with maximum torque reaching 1,000 Nm at just 2,500 rpm. The top speed is 345 km/h. The total weight of the Vanquish Volante has increased by only 95 kg compared to the coupé version and thus the power-to-weight ratio is 416 hp per tonne.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF gearbox, which is located on the rear axle for optimum weight distribution and features the same electric rear differential (E-Diff) as the Vanquish Coupe. The electronic differential can fully lock in 135 milliseconds.

The lightweight roof unfolds in 14 seconds and folds down in 16 seconds. It can be operated while driving at speeds of up to 50 km/h via an elegant metal switch on the centre console. In addition, the roof can be opened and closed with a key fob within a two metre radius around the car.

A look inside reveals that most of the interior remains the same as the coupe, except for the cross-brace at the rear and the roof button. This means that the pair of 10.25-inch displays will remain in place, as will the 15-speaker Bowers Wilkins audio system. Sports seats will be fitted as standard, while lightweight carbon fibre seats will be added as an optional extra.
The new Aston Martin Vanquish Volante is already available to order, but it should be borne in mind that the production volumes of the model will not exceed 1,000 copies per year. The first deliveries will start in the third quarter of 2025. Aston Martin has not yet commented on pricing.
