Canon has introduced two new cameras for vloggers: the compact PowerShot V1 and the DSLR EOS R50 V.

Here's What We Know

The PowerShot V1 has a new design that is optimised for both regular and selfie shooting.

The PowerShot V1 is equipped with a fixed 16-50mm f2.8-4.5 lens, but when shooting video through the sensor's crop, the effective focal length of the lens increases to 17-52mm. This is because the camera uses only part of the sensor when shooting video.

It uses a new 22.3MP Type 1.4 sensor with Dual Pixel CMOS AF II and a built-in cooling fan for longer video recordings. The PowerShot V1 can be used for video calls and live streaming via a USB connection to a PC or the Canon Camera Connect app for smartphones.

The EOS R50 V is also optimised for video recording, with a dedicated broadcast button, a front-panel record button and a tripod thread for portrait mode.

The camera uses a 24MP APS-C sensor, Dual Pixel CMOS AF II and DIGIC X processor. It is capable of shooting 4K video at 60 frames per second with crop and supports YCC 4:2:2 10-bit colour gamut. It also supports Canon Log 3, which allows you to integrate the camera with the Cinema EOS line.

Price and availability

These cameras will be available in April. The PowerShot V1 costs $900, while the EOS R50 V costs $650 for the body and $850 with the RF-S14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ lens.
