The streaming giant Netflix has officially ordered the production of an eight-episode live action series based on the cult cartoon Scooby-Doo. The project will be the first ever television adaptation with live actors that will tell the story of the origin of the famous team of detectives.

Here's What We Know

The series will focus on the last summer camp attended by long-time friends Shaggy and Daphne. There, they encounter a mysterious case involving a lonely Great Dane puppy who may have witnessed a supernatural murder. They are joined by the pragmatic local Velma and the mysterious newcomer Freddy to solve the case, which threatens to reveal their own secrets.

The series will be executive produced by Greg Berlanti, known for projects such as Riverdale and The Flash. The writers and showrunners are Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, who previously worked on the Cowboy Bebop adaptation and the spy thriller The Citadel.

The series premiere date has not yet been announced.
