France has announced a new €2 billion military aid package for Ukraine. It will include missiles, armoured vehicles, ammunition and joint production of equipment in Ukraine.

Here's What We Know

French President Emmanuel Macron said that the new package will focus on the priority needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Ukraine will receive MILAN anti-tank missiles, MICA aircraft missiles for Mirage 2000 fighters, and Mistral air defence missiles.

It is worth explaining that MICA has a "dual purpose" - short and medium range - to intercept and destroy highly manoeuvrable manned and unmanned vehicles.

"It is also ammunition, including remotely controlled munitions. And it is also the production of equipment in Ukraine through partnerships with our defence companies," said Emmanuel Macron.

In addition, the package includes VAB and AMX-10RC armoured vehicles, which are already in use by the Ukrainian military. The AMX-10RC is often referred to as a wheeled tank or "tank hunter" due to its powerful armament and mobility.

Macron also said that the package includes remotely controlled munitions and support for the production of military equipment in Ukraine in cooperation with French defence companies.
