According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple currently has no plans to re-launch the compact iPhone model.

Here's What We Know

During a live Q&A, Gurman confirmed that Apple has no plans to release a new mini version of its smartphone, which means no iPhone 17 mini this year and probably no iPhone 18 mini next year. Apple discontinued the iPhone 13 mini in September 2023, and since then, the company has not released new models of this type.

With the recent discontinuation of the iPhone SE (third generation), Apple no longer offers smartphones with a screen smaller than 6 inches. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models have screens ranging from 6.1 to 6.9 inches, while the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini had screens measuring 5.4 inches. The latest iPhone SE had a 4.7-inch screen, but due to its thicker bezels, its dimensions were larger.

While some loyal fans still hope for the return of the compact iPhone, market research has shown that these models were not in high enough demand for Apple to continue to produce them. This decision is in line with Apple's strategic focus on large screens, which have become the preferred choice among consumers.

Therefore, those who are still waiting for the mini-version to return may want to look at other models: Apple has no plans to release a compact model in the near future. You can listen to the full audio of the Q&A on Bloomberg's website.
