Tony Gilroy, the creator of the Andor series, hopes that the success of his project on Disney+ will open the door to new genre experiments in the Star Wars universe. In an interview with SFX magazine, he noted that he dreams of seeing a sitcom or horror film in this franchise.

Here's What We Know

Gilroy believes that Andor has paved its own path, and other projects, such as Skeleton Crew, are also trying to find their niche. He expressed hope that "anything can be done" and that his series will open up new canonical ideas that will inspire other creators to experiment.

The showrunner even fantasised about the possibility of creating a sitcom or horror film in the Star Wars universe. At his first meeting with Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, he asked: "Can we do a courtroom drama?" and added: "Why not?"

Andor became the most expensive project in the Star Wars universe, with a budget of $645 million. The second season of the series, which is scheduled to premiere on 22 April 2025, has already cost $290 million. But high ratings indicate its success.
