Media information Media: Ubisoft could fall into dependence on Tencent, but is trying to avoid it in Ubisoft has been fully confirmed: the French publisher has announced a new phase of its activities.

Here's What We Know

Ubisoft and the Chinese corporation Tencent announced the opening of a new company, to which will pass the rights to key franchises of the French, including Assassin's Creed, Far Cry and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six.

It became known that the newly formed division will include all studios that were engaged in the development of games for the above franchises, and the new company will be led by Ubisoft co-founder and CEO Yves Guillemot.

Today, Ubisoft opens a new chapter in its history. This is a fundamental step in changing Ubisoft's operating model to be both flexible and ambitious.

Tencent invested €1.16bn in the subsidiary and received a 25% stake. Notably, the new company already has a market value of $4.3bn, three times Ubisoft's capitalisation.

The deal will be finalised by the end of 2025. It is not yet known what fate awaits other Ubisoft franchises, which did not fall into the ownership of the new company.
