Czech Republic plans to supply Ukraine with at least 1.5 million shells in 2025
As part of the Czech ammunition initiative, Ukraine may receive at least as many artillery shells in 2025 as last year, when about 1.5 million units were delivered.
Here's What We Know
Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala made the announcement after a summit in Paris with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other leaders. The Czech initiative involves the purchase of shells around the world with funding from NATO allies.
Czech defence company STV Group is expanding its ammunition production. In the coming weeks, it will launch a new production line that will double its output to 200,000 shells per year. By the end of 2025, another line is planned to open, and in 2026, production is expected to increase to 300,000 shells per year.
In short, the Czech defence industry currently produces between 56,000 and 150,000 artillery shells per year, depending on the calibre.
