MediaTek is gearing up to launch a new sub-flagship processor, which was previously known as Dimensity 9350. According to a leak from Digital Chat Station, the chip will be renamed Dimensity 9400e. This decision is probably due to MediaTek's desire to unify the lineup and bring the new processor closer to the flagship Dimensity 9300 series.

Here's What We Know

The Dimensity 9400e is reportedly based on the Dimensity 9300 architecture, but includes significant improvements, allowing it to be considered a "Dimensity 9300++". The chip will use the same core layout: one Cortex-X4 core, three additional Cortex-X4 cores and four Cortex-A720 cores. The main difference is the increased clock speeds, which will provide a performance boost.

The new processor is expected to find use in smartphones such as the OnePlus Ace 5V, which is rumoured to get a 7,000mAh battery and a 1.5K resolution display. MediaTek plans to compete with Qualcomm, which is also preparing its Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip. No official launch date for the new chip has been announced yet.
