Popular MMORPG leaves PS4 and Xbox One: Black Desert moves to current-gen consoles
The authors of the popular Korean MMORPG Black Desert have announced news that will equally upset many console gamers and please others.
Here's What We Know
Pearl Abyss Studios has announced that it will stop supporting Black Desert on last-gen PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles on 26 June. Not only will the game stop updating, but it will no longer launch on these devices.
But on the same day will be released an improved version of Black Desert for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, which will allow developers to not only significantly improve the graphics, but also to introduce new features that were unavailable on last generation consoles.
Pearl Abyss realises that such a decision will certainly cause dissatisfaction of PS4 and Xbox One users, but the game of this format must develop, and the capabilities of older consoles do not allow this.
Recall, Black Desert originally came out in 2015 only on PC, and in 2019 Pearl Abyss offered console versions. At the moment, the studio is working on an ambitious single-player action-RPG Crimson Desert, which was planned as a prequel to Black Desert, but is now being created as an independent project, whose release is expected this year.
