Media: four giants of the Korean game industry would like to create their own games based on the StarCraft universe

Today - 31 March - is the 27th anniversary of the legendary strategy game StarCraft.
This game from Blizzard became world famous and not only became a benchmark for most RTS developers, but also popularised cyber sports competitions.
The last thesis is especially relevant for South Korea, where StarCraft is still a favourite game and even became a cultural phenomenon. That is why Korean companies are so interested in the development of the StarCraft franchise.
Here's What We Know
The portal Asia Today shared exclusive information that four giants of the Korean game industry approached Blizzard with an offer to give them the rights to use the StarCraft franchise to create new games, and not only strategies, but also other genres.
The companies are offering:
- NCSoft (author of Lineage and Guild Wars) could create an MMORPG;
- Nexon (The First Descendant, The Finals) wants to use the StarCraft franchise in an unconventional way using its own developments. It will probably be an online shooter;
- Netmarble (Game of Thrones: Kingsroad) is considering creating a mobile game based on StarCraft;
- Krafton (publisher of PUBG) does not reveal its plans, but there is a possibility that StarCraft will get a new life in the form of "Battle royal" (Battle royal).
Journalists have information that representatives of the companies visited Blizzard's headquarters in California and presented their concepts, but it is still unknown what these talks led to.
Recall, many years ago Blizzard tried to make a shooter on StarCraft, but after spending a lot of time and money, the studio abandoned the idea, but a few months ago insider Jason Schreier said that becoming part of Microsoft, the studio returned to the old idea.
