Death Stranding is one of the most unusual, unconventional and controversial games in the history of the industry. At the time of its release in 2019, few gamers fully understood Hideo Kojima's idea and called him a "genius" only in an ironic sense. However, as time passed, the public changed their opinion, recognising the Japanese developer's innovative approach to storytelling and gamedesign.

Studio Kojima Productions published a post, which reports that already 20 million players have immersed themselves in the world of Death Stranding and contributed to the unification of the disparate humanity.

This number does not reflect the number of copies sold, as Death Stranding has been given away for free, and the game is also available in the Xbox Game Pass catalogue.
