New details about the Garmin Vivoactive 6 have surfaced online, confirming rumours of its release in April. This watch is supposed to be the successor to the popular Vivoactive 5 model, with which it shares many characteristics, including a 42 mm size.

Here's What We Know

The Vivoactive 6 display, like the previous version, will have a 1.2-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 390 x 390 pixels (325 PPI). These parameters remain unchanged, although it is not yet known whether the display will be larger or improved in some way.

The new model will be slightly thinner than its predecessor, measuring just 10.9 mm thick, making it more compact. The built-in storage has been increased to 8 GB, and support for BeiDou and QZSS positioning systems has been added for more accurate location.

The new features of Vivoactive 6 include Garmin Share, animated workouts and advanced running metrics, which were not available in Vivoactive 5. This will provide users with even more ways to track their activity and training.

The new watch is expected to be priced at €329 (~$355) in Europe and will be available in North America for $300. The launch of the model is scheduled for April this year.

As a reminder, Garmin has received a wave of criticism for introducing subscriptions to some of its smartwatch features. The new Garmin Connect+ service provides access to additional features for $7 per month or $70 per year.
